She's infamous.
He's legendary.
Together, they'll be epic...or a complete train wreck. It could go either way, really...

Hi and Welcome!

I'm Sarah and I still love to read fairy-tales

They are just a whole lot sexier now.

I'm a fan of fiction but Paranormal Romance is my true north on the literary compass.

Mission: Her Rescue (Team 52 Book 2)

The Blurb: When archaeologist January’s plane is shot down over the Guatemalan jungle, she knows she’s being hunted for the invaluable Mayan artifacts she’s carrying. Only one man and his team can save her…the covert, black ops Team 52, and the distrusting former CIA operative who drives her crazy…

Dr. January James has a motto: live life to the fullest. A terrible incident in her past, where she lost both her mother and her innocence, taught her that. Now she spends her days on archaeological digs doing the work she loves. When her team uncovers a pair of dangerous artifacts in an overgrown temple, she knows they need to be secured and safeguarded. But someone else knows about the artifacts…and will kill to get them.

Working for the CIA, Seth Lynch learned the hard way that people lie and will always stab you in the back. He has the scars to prove it. He lives for his work with Team 52—ensuring pieces of powerful ancient technology don’t fall into the wrong hands. When he learns that the feisty, independent archaeologist who works his last nerve has died in a plane crash, he makes it his mission to discover who the hell is responsible.

Deep in the jungle, Seth rescues a very-much alive January and it is up to him to keep both her and the artifacts safe. Hunted from every side, their attraction is explosive and fiery, but with January’s life on the line, Seth must fight his own demons in order to rescue the woman he can no longer resist.

As a huge fan of Ms Hackett's, I couldn't resist moving right onto Book 2 after finishing Book 1 last week. I enjoyed the story line and characters so much, I just had to find out what happened next.

In this book, our focus is on Seth and January. We got a quick glimpse of them in Book 1 and it's pretty clear that they both get under each other's skin. But what is first thought of as being aversion, turns into an exciting and sexy "opposites" attraction.

January is a successful archaeologist who has helped Team 52 in the past gather ancient artifacts that could cause harm if put in the wrong hands. She is determined, enthusiastic and has a surprisingly optimistic outlook on life even though she has been through hell. Her childhood was cut short due to a horrific event but she hasn't let it control her life and she refuses to be a victim.

Seth is an ex-CIA operative and has been burned by people he cared about. He has been scarred, physically and emotionally and finds it extremely difficult to trust anyone. This "glass half-empty" perspective has made him hard, skeptical, and unwilling to pursue long-term relationships.

But, when January's plane goes down in the middle of a South American jungle, Team 52 is called into action and Seth is compelled to rescue her and make sure she's okay. As they work together to keep a pair of artifacts safe and out of the "bad guys" reach, their attraction grows to a fever-pitch.

I really liked Seth and January and was on pins and needles as they maneuvered around both dangerous and intimate situations.

I also really liked how the "bad guys" are different from the first book. This is a good clue that in this series each book will focus on a new couple, a new artifact, and a new enemy. This will keep things fresh and exciting while still allowing us to enjoy and learn more about the members of Team 52.

Overall, this was an enjoyable addition to the series. As always, we are given a whole lot of action and the perfect amount of sexy. The story is well-written, intriguing and fast-paced. I enjoyed the plot and was happily surprised with the little twist we get at the end.

Great job Ms. Hackett. Thank you for another addictive read. On to the next!

What did you think? Are you enjoying this series so far?
