I didn’t just jump head-first into Paranormal Romance. Like so many of you, I was happy to pick up any book that “sounded” good and give it a go. But, almost immediately, it became very obvious where my bread was buttered. Once I got started, I just couldn’t get enough of Paranormal Romance and I have a few authors to thank.
I was first introduced to Ms. Davidson in 2004 when I picked up her famous Undead and Unwed novel while waiting for a flight at DFW airport. I was in the mood for a light and romantic read and the cover called to me. It was vibrant, endearing, and fun. Soon I learned the main character possessed those same qualities. I LOVE everything about Queen Betsy. Her antics, entourage, and of course, shoe collection.
This was also one of my first introductions to Adult Romance and boy oh boy, was it hot and memorable! I was hooked from day one and loved the series so much; it was my "go to" Christmas gift that year. Why should I be the only one having a good time?
If sassy, funny, and bold heroines are your taste; this series AND this author is for you.
Can you believe I accidentally stumbled upon Ms. Mead’s Adult ParaRomance after getting through “The Vampire Academy” collection? I thought her YA novels were fantastic and her literary sweet spot. Well, I was damn wrong.
The Succubus Blues series enthralled me. The writing and imagery are stellar and the way she developed the characters was fantastic. The emotions that this series brings out are just amazing. I was Georgina’s biggest fan and felt every high, low, kiss, touch, elation and devastation. The twists and turns will keep you on the edge of your seat and the sex scenes will have you sliding off of it.

Who doesn’t love a good Shifter romance? The men are gorgeous, loyal to a fault, and beastly in bed. But it was one author and one series in particular that made me a true devotee.
Ms. Dohner’s New Species Series is unique, exciting, and the world she’s created is fascinating and believable. These books were a drug. I was so addicted; I read the first 5 books in 2 days.
Each book is dedicated to a new character and I loved watching each one get their happy ending with the woman of their dreams. The writing is outstanding and the characters are well-developed. But most importantly, the men are delicious and the love scenes are just as tasty.
If you are in the mood for real Alpha males who will give you sweet dreams and ruin all human men for you, you absolutely must read this series.
I saved my favorite for last. The first Ilona Andrews novel I read was a gift. In more ways than one. I had just broken my foot in 2010 and begged my husband to pick up a few books for me to read since I was basically bed-ridden.
I asked for fantasy and romance and I loved the deer-in-headlights look he gave me before he set out on his quest. Luckily, the wisest and most wonderful Barnes and Noble clerk (I’ll never know her name) recommended On The Edge (A Novel of the Edge Book 1). And my world was changed as I was introduced to life in the Weird.
"Ilona Andrews" is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. They have created some of the most imaginative worlds and endearing characters. Their writing style is exceptional. Poetic even. I have read and thoroughly enjoyed their other series (Kate Daniels, Hidden Legacy, and Innkeeper Chronicles to name a few), but The Edge series holds a special place in my heart.
Although connected in one way or another, each book in the series follows a main male and female character. As our couples push forward to accomplish their missions, we are transported into a fantastical world with magic-hungry creatures, heart-stopping drama, and sweet romances.
If you’re looking for magic, Real Magic, you will never miss with Ilona Andrew.
So, thank you authors, for bringing some serious spice to my life. I think I started on the right foot with these four and I look forward to the rest of my journey.
